William E. Minor Appointed Senior Director for Outreach Marketing
He brings to this position more than 20 years of executive-level experience in strategic marketing, branding, advertising, e-commerce, financial services, client management, sales and new business development. We are delighted to have a professional of Bills caliber appointed to this important role, Dr. Patricia A. Book, associate vice president for outreach and executive director, Division of Continuing Education, said. His experience will be an invaluable asset to our outreach marketing efforts in support of the outreach initiatives of the Penn State faculty. As senior director for Outreach Marketing, Minor will be responsible for developing innovative marketing strategies to promote the outreach activities of the University, with a special focus on continuing and distance education programs. He also will serve as a resource for Penn State Public Broadcasting and Penn State Cooperative Extension and as a member of the senior Outreach and Cooperative Extension leadership team and the Vice Presidents Council. In addition, he will be responsible for the oversight and integration of the offices of Marketing Communications, Marketing Research and Client Development. At Ohio Casualty Insurance Group, he reported to the chief executive officer and served as a member of the Executive Strategy and Management teams. He joined Ohio Casualty in 1996. The company is a Top 40, Fortune 800 property and casualty insurer, with $1.7 billion in revenue and more than 4,000 employees. Previously, Minor held management positions with the Top 5 worldwide advertising agencies J. Walter Thompson Advertising, Young & Rubicam Communication and Tracy-Locke/DDB Advertising. In these executive roles, he performed a wide range of strategically focused brand building and marketing/advertising assignments for such accounts as Quaker Oats, Frito-Lay, General Foods/Krafts Oscar Mayer and Jell-O and Northern Telecom. He served as a media planner (197677) and vice president, account director (198190), for J. Walter Thompson; as an account executive (197779) and account director and new business director (199296) for Young & Rubicam; as a senior account executive (197981) for Tracy-Lock/DDB; and as an agent (199092) for Northwestern Mutual Life before joining Ohio Casualty. While at Ohio Casualty Group, he also was responsible for strategic planning for Internet business development through the companys two Internet outlets (ocas.com and avomark.com). Minor earned his bachelor of arts degree, with honors, from the University of Arizona in 1976 and completed the Executive Management Program at the University of Michigan in 1997. He is a member of the American Marketing Association and also served as the Tri-State Alumni Association president for the University of Arizona Alumni Association from 1995 to 1999. |
