To be human is to know grief, whether that grief comes as a result of the death of a loved one or through another kind of loss. The third annual Conference on Grief and Healing, held at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, offered five seminars: The Anatomy of Grief, Journaling through Grief, Adult Grief, Guiding School Communities through Grief, and Healing from Sudden Death.

Dr. George Simms, professor of family and community medicine in the Penn State College of Medicine at The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, led the seminar on Anatomy of Grief. He told participants, “Without a way of making sense out of nonsense, we never find our way out of the thicket of the forest.”
