Summer 2007 Financial Aid
Student aid is available for summer courses! But there are a few things you need to know:
- At Penn State the summer semester is part of the 200607 academic year. To be considered for student aid, including the Federal Pell Grant and the Federal Stafford Loan, you must have a 200607 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file. If you will be starting with Penn State in the summer of 2007, the Office of Student Aid strongly recommends that you submit the FAFSA online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. The 200607 FAFSA can be submitted until June 30, 2007.
- Federal aid sources have a yearly maximum amount that you can receive. If you have received the full amount of a Federal Pell Grant or Federal Stafford Loan in the fall and spring semesters, you are not eligible for any additional federal aid in the summer. Questions about your aid eligibility for the summer semester can be directed to the Office of Student Aid.
- Pennsylvania residents who receive the Pennsylvania State Grant may use it for summer courses. If you want to use the state grant in the summer, you must submit a completed Summer PHEAA State Grant request form to the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) on eLion (https://elion.oas.psu.edu/). This form will be available in April 2007.
Looking ahead to the fall 2007 semester: The 200708 FAFSA is now available! The recommended deadline to submit the 200708 FAFSA is April 15, 2007; however, FAFSAs submitted after that deadline will be considered. Aid packages for 200708 will be sent to students in June 2007.
