Continuing Education Hosts Financial-Aid "Tailgating" Events

In a first-of-its-kind event for Penn State adult learners, Penn State Continuing Education hosted several no-cost financial-aid tailgating events in the weeks before and after the 2006 Super Bowl to assist current and prospective adult learners in completing the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Approximately thirty participants came prepared with their 2005 tax information and other required documents and were led step-by-step through the application by Anita Sather from Penn State's Office of Student Aid, with one-on-one assistance from several Continuing Education staff members. Traditional tailgating treats, such as sandwiches, snack foods, desserts, and soda, were also provided.

Additional aid workshops are being planned, as are online aid workshops to accommodate World Campus distance learners and local adult learners who cannot attend the workshops in person. Stay tuned for more details!
