Welcome--Norrine Sims!
We're pleased to introduce you to
Norrine Sims, who recently joined us
as advising programs coordinator for
Continuing and Distance Education
Student Services. In her role Norrine
is responsible for strategic leadership
of our academic advising team,
including identifying ways the team
can continually build on the excellent
service they provide to adult learners.
Norrine comes to us with ten years of academic
advising experience in Penn State's College of Health
and Human Development and two summers with Penn
State's First-Year Testing, Counseling, and Advising
Program (FTCAP). During her graduate work she
focused her studies on the adult student experience,
and working with adult learners continues to be her
focus. An experienced adult learner herself, Norrine
changed careers after several years in professional
theatre, attended graduate school while raising a family,
and received her master of education degree from Penn
State in 1994. Prior to her move to the State College
area she lived in Los Angeles and New York City. When
she is not at work, Norrine's favorite activities are yoga,
directing theatre, and creative writing.
