Visiting the Area? Annual Arts Festivals Draw More than 100,000

If you're a World Campus distance learner who has always wanted to visit your future alma mater, why not visit us for our local arts festivals in July?

The annual Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts™, winding its way through downtown State College and onto the Penn State University Park campus, will be held from July 12 to 16 and feature close to 1,000 nationally recognized artists and craftspeople. Now in its fortieth year, the renowned "Arts Fest" includes the Sidewalk Sale and Exhibition, two juried gallery shows, a wildly popular Children and Youth Day, sand sculptures, Italian street painting, a variety of food and drinks, educational opportunities, and music, dance, and theatrical performances in a variety of traditional and nontraditional venues. www.arts-festival.com

The annual People's Choice Festival of Pennsylvania Arts & Crafts is held in the town of Boalsburg (adjacent to State College), on the grounds of the Pennsylvania Military Museum on the same weekend as the Arts Fest. Almost 200 artisans from across Pennsylvania display their work; the People's Choice also features numerous youth activities (including a youth artisans tent), a demonstration village, and a wide variety of food vendors. www.peopleschoicefestival.com

Because the festivals draw more than 100,000 visitors to our region, we strongly recommend that you make hotel and travel reservations well in advance. www.visitpennstate.org
