Information for IECP Part-time Students

Number of Courses
Part-time students must take at least two courses. Special arrangements can be made for visiting faculty, scholars, researchers, and company employees.

Tuition
The tuition for two courses in the fall and spring semesters is $2,050, plus the $75 application fee. The tuition for two courses in the summer is $1,200, plus the $75 application fee. The $75 application fee is a one-time only fee, and it is non-refundable.

Placement into the Appropriate Level
The IECP has four levels, from beginning to advanced. New students are given a placement test and then assigned to the appropriate level for them.

Courses
In each level there are four courses: Listening and Speaking, Grammar, Reading, and Writing.

Assignment to Courses
The program makes every effort to assign part-time students to the specific courses they want to take or to the days or times they want to study. If you have preferences, you need to tell us when you register.

But, because some courses must be taken together (integrated courses in some levels) or because of the size of some classes, it is not always possible to assign part-time students to the specific courses they have requested. The $75 application fee and tuition will be refunded to you if you can study only at a particular time of day and we cannot give you classes at that time. We do not make an application refund if a particular course is not available.

Promotion to the Next Level
Each student must successfully complete each of the four courses in one level before going on to the next level. Exceptions to this are made only in consultation with the director and the student's instructors.

Student Insurance
Student insurance can be purchased after you are registered for classes. The people in the Student Health Insurance Office, room 302 in the Student Health Center, can answer any questions you have about insurance.

J-1 visiting scholars or researchers enrolling in the IECP are required to meet IECP student insurance standards. Before signing up for IECP classes, you should check with the Student Insurance Office to see if your current insurance meets their requirements for international students.
