Research Conferences Support Fund

If you want to offer an academic research conference to advance the strategic research goals of your college or center and you do not have all the support you need, you may want to apply for support from the Penn State Outreach and Penn State Hospitality Services Research Conference Support Fund.

Your proposed conference must meet the following criteria to be considered for funding support:
  • Be a new event held at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel
  • Use the services of Outreach Conferences
  • Represent a strategic research goal and be endorsed and supported by a Penn State college or intercollege center
  • Have strong academic content and be led by Penn State faculty member
  • Emphasize either the dissemination of research in a field tied to a Penn State academic unit (including research paper presentations) or the setting of a research agenda through discussion among experts in a given field
  • Target academicians or professionals whose primary purpose is to gain the latest knowledge in a particular field or to determine research agendas
  • Show potential to stimulate additional research funding and/or position the University for leadership in the field. Opportunities for additional conferences in subsequent years should also be noted.
These funds will be available quarterly to applicants meeting the requirements, for as long as the funding is available.

Funding awards may be in the range of $5,000 to $10,000, depending on the number of participants and the duration of the conference.

Interested faculty should complete the application form, obtain the required signatures, and submit the form to Betty Lose in Conferences, who will distribute it to the committee members for review.
