Career and Work Life PlanningThe Career and Work Life Planning initiative helps working professionals select, prepare for, and manage their careers, and supports them in achieving career success.

Career Workshops and Seminars
The Career and Work Life Planning program offers three short courses facilitated by career development specialists.
1. Career Planning for Working Adultsa course designed to help adults develop the awareness, understanding, and skills necessary to construct a plan for career development
Course Objectives
- Identify skills and personal traits needed to manage your chosen career
- Evaluate how personal priorities, culture, beliefs, and work values shape your decision making
- Evaluate to what extent your current education and job performance levels match the career or job roles you aspire to
- Develop a career plan to meet your personal goals

a course designed to teach job seekers everything needed for a successful job search, from obtaining occupational information to practicing for an interview
Course Objectives
- Locate information related to a job title or career field you are interested in pursuing
- Develop a cover letter to an identified employer regarding a job opportunity
- Construct a résumé based on your work experience
- Identify skills for a successful job interview
- Engage in a mock interview to practice your interview skills and receive feedback

To adequately prepare to meet the career development needs of employees across generations, human resource professionals need to develop programs and models that effectively support employees in their continued career development. This program includes information on how to enhance the way employees select, prepare for, and manage their careers, and how to support them in achieving career success—information that can help in the retention, promotion, and advancement of employees.

Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH)
The OOH is a nationally recognized source of career information designed to provide valuable assistance to persons making decisions about future careers and career
directions. The OOH, compiled by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, provides information about occupations from A to Z. It includes information related to the nature of jobs;
working conditions; training, other qualifications, and advancement; job outlook; earnings; and related occupations. In addition, the site offers job search tips and links to
information about the job market in each job sector.
Occupational Information Network (O*NET Online)
The O*NET system serves as the nation's primary source of occupational information, providing comprehensive information on key characteristics of workers and occupations. You can
find occupations by using keywords, browsing by job families and high-growth industries, etc. You can also use a list of your skills to find matching occupations.
Career Guide
This guide is designed to assist persons exploring careers and making decisions about postsecondary education, training, and work. It contains employment outlook and
wage information for more than 250 occupations.
