EXPLANATION OF STUDY

I am conducting an ethnography of the cinema-l electronic mail discussion group. I would like to explore the reasons why people participate in the group, as well as the meaning that they make of the e-mail exchanges that take place. I plan to submit questions to the group network as part of the general discussion, and I also plan to conduct individual interviews with cinema-l volunteers. My general area of interest is "the use of electronic media as a social practice."

I understand that I am free to deny any answers to specific items or questions in interviews or questionnaires.

I understand that any data or answers to questions will remain confidential with regard to my identity.
