Shaver's Creek Feature Segments and Lessons on WPSU-TV

Help your kids learn more about the outdoors. Watch "Outside" on TV or online; then go outside!

In 2006, Shaver's Creek began a partnership with WPSU-TV to give the center a regular presence in Pennsylvania media. WPSU is producing educational segments that will air on Pennsylvania Inside Out (5:30 p.m. weeknights in the Centre and Huntingdon County areas). The series of segments, called "Outside," are being teamed with online information and lessons that can help teachers and parents bring the environment alive for kids. Also on the site are fun, interactive lessons and games for kids.

The online lessons form the iWonder Series. The combined videos and teacher/student lessons can be found online at the iWonder site. The ultimate goal, of course, is to have teachers and parents take their kids outside to learn and explore using what they find online.

The lessons are in line with state educational standards and offer teachers or parents a way to connect the topic with kids' learning. In addition, the segments will frequently appear on Penn State's "Live" (http://www.live.psu.edu/) news Web site. Recent segments and entire episodes of Pennsylvania Inside Out can be found on the WPSU Web site.
