Meet Our Newest Academic Advisers!

The World Campus and Continuing Education families are thrilled to introduce our two newest academic advisers, Dana Pumehana Aina (Continuing Education) and Renee St. Pierre (World Campus).

As the academic adviser for Continuing Education, Dana Aina will be working with returning adult learners who want to take courses, complete a professional certificate, or earn a college degree. While he will be based out of the Continuing Education office at Penn State's University Park campus, he will also advise students at the University's Continuing Education centers in Lewistown and Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Prior to his arrival at CE, Dana counseled students at Penn State's Multicultural Resource Center, providing retention and referral services, advising student organizations, and directing the Knowledge, Excellence, Wisdom, and Learning mentoring program. His experiences as a military veteran, returning adult learner, and Penn State graduate, and in helping underrepresented students "navigate the Penn State system," will benefit CE adult learners who might feel nervous about the prospect of returning to the classroom.

In his spare time "D" enjoys Web site design, paddling his outrigger canoe, spending time with his spouse, Shelly, and sharing his knowledge of Hawaiian culture with others. He offers this Hawaiian proverb to all travelers on the path of continuing their education:

E kaupe aku no i ka hoe a ko mai.

"Put forward the paddle and draw it back." (Go on with the task that is started and finish it.)

You can contact Dana by calling 800-252-3592 (toll free) or 814-865-5403 (local), or by e-mailing psu4you@outreach.psu.edu.

Renee St. Pierre, a proud Penn State alum, joined the World Campus academic advising team from Penn State's First-Year Testing, Counseling, and Advising Program (FTCAP). Previously, Renee worked with adults, children, and families in the counseling field. She has firsthand experience as an adult learner, having earned her master's degree as an adult from Chapman University in Orange, California. These combined experiences will serve her well in helping adult learners achieve their goals through the World Campus.

In her spare time Renee enjoys spending time with her daughter and significant other. She also loves movies, books, and hanging out with her crazy Siamese cat (who actually thinks he's a dog!).

You can contact Renee by calling 800-252-3592 (toll free) or 814-865-5403 (local), or by e-mailing wdadvising@outreach.psu.edu.
