Pennsylvanians enjoys a rich natural heritage. Wild Pennsylvania is a television series produced by WPSX-TV. The series highlights some of the wildlife species that live in our state, as well as several of the specific habitats in Pennsylvania within which wildlife dwell. Wild Pennsylvania also celebrates some of the positive ways that Pennsylvanians are working to benefit wildlife.

The purpose of the educational component for Wild Pennsylvania is to provide additional resources to help teachers integrate this series into the classroom curriculum. Hopefully, Wild Pennsylvania will make it even easier and more enjoyable for educators to teach about the environment and ecology specific to Pennsylvania, while simultaneously helping them to meet the new state standards.

The educational component consists of:

    • ten selected programs from the Wild Pennsylvania television series
    • teacher’s guide
    • web site

This Wild Pennsylvania web site offers some of the same information as the teachers' packet on how to use the television series in the classroom, but in addition it provides links to other web sites that are related to the topics in the series.

The site also includes a web-based classroom project. This project provides a unique opportunity for students across Pennsylvania to share in an exciting research and learning experience, as they collect and analyze bird observation data gathered on their schoolgrounds.
