About the Conference
Join your colleagues for this exciting, two-day outcomes-oriented forum covering a host of issues related to the obesity epidemic in America.
The National Obesity Action Forum is a follow-up to the 2001 Surgeon General's Call to Action to Prevent and Decrease Overweight and Obesity. Since the 2001 release, the ten U.S. Public Health Service Regions have hosted "regional meetings" with the distinct purpose of stimulating local action. This follow-up meeting will provide a forum for discussing local actions, including those taken at the state level that have occurred since the Call to Action. More specifically, the forum will serve to identify lessons learned in implementing change at the family and community levels--lessons from the ten conferences that were held in collaboration with the Office of the Regional Health Administrators since the Call to Action was released in December 2001.
