Septage and Toxicity--3 hours, 0.3 CEU

Septage and Toxicity reviews operator concerns related to the acceptance of septage in activated sludge processes. These concerns include septage's characteristics, potential impact, sampling, and monitoring. The course addresses septage and potential chemical and physical conditions responsible for toxicity in treatment processes. It reviews the bacterial components affected by toxicity, the consequences of the affected components, operational measures that influence the "sensitivity" of the bacteria to toxicity, and control measures available to reduce or prevent toxicity.
